Jail Ministry

What do we do?

Reach inmates in jail with the Good News of Jesus and Bible stories.

We correspond with inmates in prison to equip them to reach others, through a monthly  newsletter and Bible based games and puzzles.

Our aim is to reach the unsaved, but we encourage and strengthen those who are incarcerated that are Christians to be effective tools use by God.

Where do we go?

Visitation and Bible studies are primarily at Hampton City Jail by Liberty members, and we have contacts in a number of other local jails.  Men minister to men and women minister to women

When do we do it?

Visitation is at Hampton City Jail on Tuesday evenings from 7:30-9:30 pm for both male and female prisoners.

How do we train and what are the qualifications?

You need to be a born again Christian with the desire to share the joy of your faith with others.  You must be over the age of 18 years old.  There is an application process that jail requires you to go through. There will be one day of training and you will shadow an experienced volunteer for a couple of times.
